Chapter 14: The Failed Sabotage
Chloe gasped, looking at Ethan as if he had become a monster. “You… you want to murder the Chairwoman of Sinclair Consortium?!”
“She forced my hand!” Ethan snarled, his face contorted in madness. “The divorce decree hasn’t been processed by the magistrate’s court yet! On paper, we are still married! If she has an accident tonight, I become the legal heir to Sinclair’s billions!”
Chloe’s fear quickly morphed back into greed. “Can… can we really pull it off?”
“I know her schedule,” Ethan grinned sinisterly. “Every Saturday night, she visits her grandmother’s old cottage in the northern suburbs alone to tend to the garden. I’ll cut the brake lines on her private vehicle before she leaves Sinclair Estate!”
An hour later, under the cover of torrential rain, Ethan sneaked into the underground parking garage of the private Sinclair Residence, wearing a rain poncho and carrying a pair of wire cutters.
He spotted the black Maybach parked in Natalie’s reserved bay.
“Hahaha! Natalie, you brought this on yourself!” Ethan whispered, sliding under the chassis of the vehicle.
He found the hydraulic brake line and clipped it with a sharp SNAP. Fluid leaked onto the concrete floor.
Ethan wiped his hands and snickered, sliding out from under the car. “Rest in peace, my dear wife!”
As he stood up, the bright headlights of four SUVs suddenly flashed on around him, blinding his vision!
WOOO-WOOO-WOOO!
Sirens blared as over twenty armed Sinclair tactical guards and police officers surrounded the garage!
Natalie stepped out from behind a concrete pillar, holding a sleek umbrella. Standing beside her was Chief Prosecutor Raymond.
“Ethan Carter,” Natalie said coldly. “We’ve been waiting for you.”
