Chapter 11: The VIP Fashion Summit
Natalie stood at the top of the red carpet steps, surrounded by flashing cameras and international journalists. She looked at Ethan and Chloe down below as if looking at ants crawling in the dust.
Ethan snapped out of his trance and pushed past the velvet rope, stepping onto the red carpet toward Natalie.
“Natalie!” Ethan called out, putting on a forced, tender smile. “Natalie, thank goodness I found you! Look at you… you look breathtaking tonight!”
He reached out to touch her hand, but Butler Harrison stepped in front of him, blocking Ethan with an iron arm.
“Stand back, sir,” Harrison warned sternly. “You are approaching Chairwoman Sinclair without authorization.”
“Natalie, please!” Ethan pleaded, ignoring Harrison. “I know you’re angry about last night. I admit I was wrong! I was stressed about company work and lost my temper! But we’ve been married for five years! How could you destroy Carter Group over a tiny argument?”
Natalie looked at him with cool amusement. “A tiny argument? You demanded I kneel to your mistress. You called me a parasite and forced me to sign divorce papers. Ethan, you threw me away like trash, and now you call it a ‘tiny argument’?”
“I was confused!” Ethan lied without blinking. “Chloe lured me in! It was all her fault! I never loved her, Natalie! I only love you! If you unfreeze the loans and restore our contracts, I will kick Chloe out of my life right now!”
Standing a few feet away, Chloe froze. Her face turned bright red with rage.
“Ethan Carter!” Chloe shrieked, rushing up to him. “You hypocrite! You told me in bed that Natalie was an old hag and you couldn’t wait to be rid of her! Now you’re throwing me under the bus?!”
