Chapter 3: The Stolen Kiss of Blood Moon

By 2:00 AM, the blood moon reached its apex directly above the Grand Library of St. Jude Academy.

A thick, crimson fog poured through the stained-glass dome above, filling the vast multi-tiered library with supernatural mist. It was time for the “Midnight Supernatural Exam”—a lethal survival trial where trapped players had to locate ancient spellbooks while evading bloodthirsty gargoyles.

Audrey sprinted between towering bookshelves, her lungs burning. Behind her, three gargoyles with glowing red eyes crashed through wooden desks, their stone claws tearing through the air.

“St. Jude Academy Rule 14,” a cold, smooth voice echoed from the grand balcony above.

Wyatt descended through the air like a fallen angel, his dark velvet coat billowing behind him. He landed effortlessly between Audrey and the charging monsters. With a sweep of his hand, a wall of pure glacier ice erupted from the marble floor, impaling and shattering the gargoyles into stone dust.

Audrey leaned against a bookshelf, panting heavily.

Audrey looked at the glowing purple prompt and then up at Wyatt. He was turning back toward her, his icy blue eyes assessing her for injuries.

“Are you unharmed, Audrey?” he asked, stepping closer.

“Wyatt…” Audrey murmured, dropping the formal title for the first time.

Wyatt paused, surprised by her tone. Before he could speak, Audrey closed the distance.

She grabbed the lapels of his velvet coat, pulling his head down. Standing on her tiptoes under the cascading crimson moonlight, she pressed her lips firmly against his.

Time seemed to stop.

His lips were soft, surprisingly cool at first, but within a second of contact, an intense, searing warmth rushed between them. Wyatt’s eyes widened in sheer shock.

*BOOM!*

A blinding golden light erupted from Audrey’s chest where their lips met, expanding in a massive shockwave that pulverized the crimson fog and blew away the remaining gargoyles across the library floor.

“Audrey…” he breathed, his voice thick with unspoken emotion. “What did you just do?”

“I’m keeping myself alive, Professor,” Audrey whispered, meeting his intense gaze without flinching. “And maybe… I’m keeping you human.”
