Chapter 5: Awakening of the Supreme White Wolf
The night air outside the Royal Banquet Hall was crisp, thick with the scent of crushed moon-pine and damp earth. But as Seraphina stepped into the secluded Moonlight Gardens, clutching five-year-old Leo against her hip, the natural scent of the realm abruptly died.
In its place rushed a suffocating stench—sour obsidian brimstone, acrid wolfbane, and corrupted shadow magic.
“Mommy…” Leo whispered, his tiny fingers digging into the silver embroidery of her gown. His golden ears, normally tucked beneath his dark messy curls, twitched nervously. “The shadows are moving. They smell bad.”
“Hush, my sweet wolf,” Seraphina murmured, her voice steady as tempered steel, though every nerve in her body ignited with combat readiness. She set Leo gently down behind her, stepping in front of him near the edge of the ancient Moon-Crystal Fountain. “Stay behind Mommy. Do not let go of my dress.”
Behind them, the arched marble gateway leading back to the palace grand hall suddenly hissed. A shimmering wall of pitch-black runes surged up from the flagstones, sealing the garden in an unnatural, soundproof dome of forbidden dark magic. The music of the celebration, the shouts of Alpha Kael’s guards hunting for conspirators inside—all of it vanished behind a veil of absolute silence.
From the moonlit shadows of the white marble pillars stepped Princess Lyra.
Her immaculate golden hair was disheveled, her ice-blue eyes wild with unhinged malice. Her manicured claws were stained dark with blood-talisman ink, and wrapped around her waist was a burning belt of dark Sunfang runes.
“Did you really think you could ruin me, you nameless stray?” Lyra spat, her voice ringing with hysterical venom. She gestured sharply to the perimeter, and eight figures melted out of the darkness. They were elite Sunfang shadow-assassins, their bodies wrapped in dark wolf fur and their blades dripping with paralyzing wolfbane venom. “You stole my throne! You brought your bastard cub to usurp my rightful place by Kael’s side! If I cannot be Luna of the Silvermoon Realm, then this palace will become your grave!”
Seraphina didn’t flinch. Her violet-blue eyes narrowed, a low, dangerous purr building in her chest. “You poisoned a child’s cup, Lyra. You brought dark magic into royal sacred grounds. Kael knows what you are. The elders know. There is nowhere in the seven wolf realms you can run.”
“He will only find your corpses!” Lyra shrieked. “Kill them! Tear the stray to pieces and bring me the boy’s heart!”
The eight shadow-assassins lunged simultaneously.
Seraphina’s instincts roared to life. Even without fully shifting, her physical speed as a wolf survivor was blinding. She ducked under the first assassin’s venomous blade, her palm striking hard against his chest with enough force to shatter his ribs. He crashed back into a stone pillar with a sickening crunch. She spun instantly, kicking the second assassin in the throat, sending him sprawling across the marble courtyard.
“Mommy, behind you!” Leo cried out.
A third assassin dropped from the trees above, his blade arcing toward Seraphina’s head. She raised her left arm, blocking the strike with her silver bracer, but the dark magic barrier surrounding the garden began to pulse with heavy, suppressive energy. A wave of artificial weakness slammed into Seraphina’s veins. Her knees buckled under the dark field.
The barrier isn’t just trapping us, she realized with a jolt of panic. It’s an anti-wolf seal designed to drain pack energy!
Lyra laughed maniacally from the safety of the fountain steps. “Feel it, don’t you? That barrier drains all ordinary wolf blood! You are nothing here, stray!”
The remaining six assassins closed in, their blackened steel blades raised. Seraphina fought furiously—punching, parrying, shielding Leo with her body—but the dark field weighed heavily on her muscles. Her breath came in ragged gasps. A blade grazed her side, tearing her dress and drawing dark crimson blood.
“Mommy!” Leo’s eyes ignited into brilliant, furious gold. A tiny wave of golden cub aura erupted from his body, knocking back an approaching shadow assassin. But he was only five years old; the effort drained his small strength, making him stumble.
The leader of the shadow-assassins—a massive brute wielding a double-edged executioner’s blade coated in pitch-black dark magic—saw his opening. He ignored Seraphina and lunged straight for the defenseless boy.
“Die, little prince!” the brute snarled, bringing the corrupted blade down toward Leo’s chest.
Time seemed to freeze.
Seraphina didn’t think. She didn’t hesitate. She didn’t calculate the cost.
Not my son.
With a desperate, primal scream, Seraphina threw herself directly over Leo.
CLANG!
The dark executioner’s blade struck deep into Seraphina’s back, right between her shoulder blades. The dark magic venom seethed into her flesh, threatening to rot her wolf core and extinguish her life force in seconds.
Leo gasped beneath her, his small hands clutching her bloodied shoulders. “Mommy! No! Mommy, wake up!”
Lyra smirked, taking a triumphant step forward. “It’s over. The stray is dead.”
But as Seraphina lay pressed against the cool marble, her body shielding her child, something deep within the core of her soul broke wide open.
It was not death that answered the blade.
It was an ancient, dormant divine power that had slumbered for ten thousand years.
Beneath her collarbone, the pale moon mark began to burn—not with faint silver light, but with a blinding, celestial white flare that swallowed the night sky. The dark magic venom inside her wounds didn’t corrupt her flesh; it was instantly incinerated, converted into raw, holy energy.
CRACK!
The assassin leader’s dark blade shattered into a million sparkling dust particles.
“What… what is this?!” the assassin leader gasped, stumbling backward in horror.
Seraphina slowly pushed herself up. The wound on her back closed instantly, leaving skin smooth as polished ivory. Her hair, once dark, began to turn pure, radiant silver-white from root to tip, fluttering in an invisible, rising tempest. Her violet-blue eyes flared into molten silver, burning with an authority so immense, so absolute, that the very air in the garden began to tremble.
Outside the black barrier, Alpha Kael smashed through the heavy oak doors, followed by Beta Valerius and forty royal guards. Kael’s golden eyes flared red with lethal panic as he saw the black barrier sealing the garden.
“SERAPHINA! LEO!” Kael roared. His Alpha command shook the entire palace structure. He slammed his fist into the black barrier with all his royal force, but the dark runes held tight. “Break this barrier! Cut it down now!”
Inside, Seraphina turned her silver-gilded eyes toward the six remaining assassins and Princess Lyra.
“You dared to raise a blade against my son,” Seraphina spoke. Her voice was no longer just human or wolf; it echoed with the resonant, multi-layered chime of a celestial deity.
The ground beneath her exploded in a column of pure starlight.
The dark magic barrier—the ancient Sunfang forbidden curse—shattered into fine dust like glass under a hammer. The shockwave blew back Kael and his royal guards, sending shadow-assassins flying across the courtyard.
As the blinding starlight cleared, a majestic form rose into the night air.
Standing over fifteen feet tall at the shoulder, her fur shimmering like freshly fallen snow infused with liquid silver, was a creature of divine myth. Eight glowing moon-runes floated in a halo around her majestic head. Her silver tail swept the air, leaving trails of stardust, and her eyes burned with the cosmic power of the Moon Goddess herself.
It was the Supreme White Wolf.
The progenitor of all wolfkind. The divine ruler whose mere presence could command the tides and subjugate empires.
The remaining Sunfang assassins fell to their knees instantly, not by choice, but because their wolf instincts forced their bodies into absolute submission. Their bones trembled; their breath caught in their throats. They could not even look up into her radiant gaze without weeping in primal terror.
Princess Lyra dropped to her knees, her face drained of all color, her lips quivering violently. “No… no… it’s a myth… the Supreme White Wolf went extinct ten thousand years ago! You… you’re just a stray!”
Alpha Kael froze at the edge of the ruined garden. The sovereign King of the Silvermoon Realm, a warrior who had never bowed to any force on earth, felt his own royal wolf bow its head inside his chest. His heart hammered against his ribs—not in fear, but in profound, overwhelming awe.
She is not a stray, Kael thought, his breath catching as the mate bond in his heart sang with celestial ecstasy. She is the Supreme Luna. My fated mate.
Small Leo stood untouched in the center of the radiant light. He didn’t fear the giant white wolf towering above him. He looked up, his big golden eyes wide with delight, and clapped his hands as tiny white wolf-sparks danced across his fingertips.
“Mommy is so pretty!” Leo giggled happily. “Mommy is the biggest wolf in the whole world!”
The Supreme White Wolf threw her head back toward the full moon and let out a majestic, earth-shaking howl.
AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
The roar rang across the Silvermoon Realm, echoing across mountains, valleys, and distant pack territories. Across the entire continent, millions of wolves—from humble omega gatherers to proud Alpha warlords—instinctively dropped to their knees, bowing toward the Silvermoon Palace.
Seraphina lowered her giant, beautiful silver head and turned her glowing gaze directly onto Princess Lyra.
The impostor’s reign was over. The Supreme Luna had awakened.
