Volume 1, Chapter 2: Awakening of the Divine Sky Ark

The Worthless Husband Is the Apocalypse Final Boss 2 of 2

The heavy stench of sulfur and rotting flesh filled the narrow alleyway behind the Sector 7 industrial district. High above, the crimson storm clouds churned like an open wound, pouring down relentless sheets of blood-red acid rain. The toxic liquid sizzled against rusted iron fire escapes, dissolving copper gutters into bubbling black sludge and eating holes through ancient brick walls.

Lin Feng walked steadily into the dead-end passage. His worn sneakers pressed into the wet asphalt with calm, measured steps. The old grey jacket draped over his broad shoulders remained bone-dry. Two inches above his skin, an invisible spherical kinetic forcefield hummed at a sub-audible frequency, turning every corrosive drop of rain into tiny harmless golden sparks that vanished into thin air.

Behind him, heavy footsteps splashed through the acid-soaked street.

Three mutated T1 Walker zombies rounded the corner, drawn by the scent of living blood. Their skin had decayed into ash-grey husks, thick purple-black veins bulging across their necks and faces. Cloudy grey fluid leaked from their unblinking sockets as their jawbones unhinged with wet, sickening cracks.

With guttural roars, the three monsters lunged forward. Their rotten claws reached out to tear through human flesh, their broken teeth snapping wildly in the red mist.

Lin Feng did not turn around. He did not speed up his pace.

The leading zombie threw its full, decaying weight forward, targeting Lin Feng’s exposed neck.

*BANG!*

A violent shockwave erupted through the air as the creature slammed headfirst into the invisible kinetic barrier two feet behind Lin Feng. The force of the impact was brutal. The monster’s skull shattered like brittle glass, jawbones splintering into fragment shards as black blood sprayed across the brick wall. Its body rebounded backward, crashing onto the asphalt in a broken, writhing heap.

The second and third zombies followed immediately after, hurtling blindly into the impenetrable wall. Bones snapped like dry twigs. Brain matter and black sludge splattered over the wet pavement as the kinetic pulse deflected their inertia, leaving all three corpses motionless in the acid rain.

Lin Feng stopped near the solid brick wall at the end of the alleyway. He turned around slowly, looking down at the shattered remains of the infected without a single ripple of emotion in his dark eyes.

He reached into his jacket pocket and retrieved the dark-gold master key card.

The heavy metallic card radiated a soothing warmth against his fingers. The intricate dragon motif carved into its surface hummed with deep amber energy, casting long golden light rays across the rain-slicked ground. Lin Feng held the key card upright before his chest.

A translucent blue targeting circle materialized around his feet, glowing brightly against the dark tarmac. High above the atmosphere, an orbital satellite locked onto his exact biometric signal.

Lin Feng stared at the glowing key card, his voice low, firm, and ringing with absolute authority.

“Twenty years of suppressing my strength… Time to take back what is mine.”

High above East Sea Metropolis, the heavens split open.

The thick layer of bruised crimson clouds parted violently, sliced apart by an unseen atmospheric force. The howling winds ceased. The torrential rain over Sector 7 faltered as a massive gravitational shadow descended from low Earth orbit.

*HUMMMMMMMM—*

A deep, suffocating sub-bass frequency echoed across the sky. The vibration shook the foundations of every glass skyscraper across the ten-mile radius of the metropolitan center. Car alarms blared in unison along the flooded highways. Glass windows rattled in their frames as millions of panicked survivors looked up through the blood-red fog.

A metallic titan descended through the atmosphere.

It was the Divine Sky Ark—a mobile floating citadel spanning several miles across, forged from dark-titanium armor plates and powered by colossal anti-gravity propulsion rings that glowed with blinding azure light. Its sleek, angular hull resembled a sleeping interstellar starship, commanding the sky like a divine sovereign inspecting a shattered realm.

Surrounding the floating citadel was a five-kilometer-wide plasma defense shield. The moment the acid rain touched the blue energy barrier, the corrosive liquid instantly vaporized into harmless white steam clouds. Within seconds, the crimson storm over Sector 7 was swept clean, replaced by the towering presence of the dark-titanium fortress hovering beneath the clouds.

The sheer scale of the Sky Ark blanketed Sector 7 in total darkness, casting a shadow of absolute dominance over the burning city.

Inside the Su family villa, three miles away from the industrial alleyway, the marble floors vibrated violently.

Su Ran stood near the grand living room window, her fingers gripping her wine glass so tightly her knuckles turned white. The crystal chandelier above swayed back and forth, casting erratic amber shadows across the gilded walls.

Zhao Tian stumbled toward the window, his face pale as he looked up at the sky. “What… what is that thing? Is that a military defense platform? How can a ship that size hover over the city?”

Lin Dong and Lin Xi rushed to the glass, their arrogant sneers replaced by raw, primitive fear.

“Mother! Look at the sky!” Lin Xi screamed, her voice trembling. “It’s blocking out the sun! Is the government evacuating Sector 7?”

Su Ran did not answer. Her eyes remained fixed on the massive blue plasma shield glowing in the dark sky. A cold, suffocating feeling tightened in her chest—an inexplicable dread that had nothing to do with the zombies tearing through the city streets below.

***

In the secluded alleyway, the blue light reached its peak intensity.

A pillar of sapphire gravity light, twenty feet wide, burned down from the central belly bay of the Sky Ark. The beam engulfed Lin Feng completely, surrounding his body in a column of pure, weightless energy.

The acid rain, the blood-stained brick walls, and the roars of distant zombies vanished from his sight. Lin Feng felt zero inertia or physical discomfort as the gravity beam lifted him off the wet tarmac, drawing him upward into the sky at immense speed.

He rose through the clouds, passing effortlessly through the five-kilometer plasma shield and the heavy dark-titanium bay doors.

*SHUUUUU—*

The pressure sealed instantly. The light faded, leaving Lin Feng standing inside the grand threshold of the Sky Ark Command Citadel.

Underneath his worn sneakers, the liquid metal floor rippled like quicksilver before solidifying into immaculate chrome tile. The air was crisp, cool, and filled with 100% purified mountain oxygen, completely free of the sulfur stench and copper blood rust that choked the world outside. Ambient sapphire light flowed softly along the walls through translucent energy conduits, bathing the massive hall in a calm, majestic aura.

There was zero vibration. Zero noise. The citadel was a world of pristine luxury and absolute power, completely detached from the apocalyptic nightmare below.

In the center of the hall, a cluster of blue light particles converged.

The light coalesced into a translucent holographic avatar. The figure took the form of a breathtakingly serene woman with flowing silver hair, glowing blue circuit lines running along her temples, and a sleek suit of glowing silver-blue energy armor.

AI AIGIS bowed deeply, her head tilted in absolute reverence.

“Welcome home, Supreme Ark Master Lin Feng,” AIGIS spoke. Her voice was crisp, soothing, and delivered with flawless synthetic precision. “The twenty-year standby phase is officially completed. All defense matrices, orbital strike units, and life-support systems are operating at peak efficiency.”

Lin Feng took a slow step forward, his feet clicking firmly against the solid chrome floor. He looked at the holographic avatar, his eyes calm and cold.

“Status report on planetary conditions, AIGIS,” Lin Feng commanded.

“Understood, Master,” AIGIS replied, raising her silver hand. A massive three-dimensional holographic map of Earth materialized between them, showing red infection points spreading exponentially across every continent. “The Nightfall Virus atmospheric deployment has reached eighty-seven percent global saturation. Human civilization in Sector 7 has collapsed by sixty-two percent within the first hour. Urban infrastructure is compromised.”

AIGIS paused, her eyes flashing with diagnostic light as a blue scanner beam swept across Lin Feng’s body.

“Diagnostic alert,” AIGIS continued, her tone laced with crisp concern. “Biometric analysis indicates heavy cellular fatigue, muscle fiber micro-tearing, and epidermal degradation. Twenty years of living under primitive surface conditions have strained your organic baseline. I strongly advise immediate entry into the Nano-Rejuvenation Chamber to restore your prime physical architecture.”

Lin Feng glanced down at his faded grey jacket and the worn denim jeans. He nodded slowly.

“Prepare the pod.”

“By your command, Master.”

***

The Nano-Rejuvenation Chamber sat at the apex of the Command Citadel deck.

Inside the sleek cylindrical glass capsule, golden nano-fluid bubbled with concentrated bio-synthetic energy. Lin Feng stripped off his worn surface clothing and stepped inside the chamber. The heavy glass door sealed shut with a soft pneumatic hiss.

`[Nano-Rejuvenation Protocol: Initiated.]`
`[Target Age Target: 28 Years Old.]`
`[Commencing cellular reconstruction and bio-kinetic enhancement.]`

The golden fluid rose rapidly, submerging Lin Feng to his neck. Warm, electric energy surged through every pore of his skin. Microscopic nano-bots invaded his bloodstream, repairing worn tissue at the molecular level.

Scar tissue dissolved instantly. Calluses on his hands softened before strengthening into dense, unbreakable bone density. Muscle fibers expanded and restructured, locking into peak athletic perfection. The slight weariness around his eyes disappeared, replaced by sharp, star-like brilliance. His dark hair turned deep raven black, shining with healthy vitality.

Every cell in his body roared with renewed power. The suppressed strength of a supreme sovereign awakened, filling his veins with unstoppable force.

Minutes later, the golden fluid drained away into the floor vents. The glass pod slid open, releasing a wave of warm steam.

Lin Feng stepped out onto the polished platform. He reached up, running a hand through his dark hair, feeling the immense vitality surging within his chest. He was no longer the middle-aged, worn househusband who scrubbed floor tiles for twenty years. He had returned to his prime twenty-eight-year-old physical state—flawless, powerful, and immaculate.

A pair of mechanical floating arms descended from the ceiling, holding a suit of clothes crafted from high-tier space-grade materials.

Lin Feng dressed unhurriedly. He put on a tailored black Master Sovereign jacket woven with gold kinetic defense fibers, paired with obsidian trousers and knee-high leather boots reinforced with anti-gravity dampeners. Over his shoulders, a high-collared mantle lined with gold thread draped down his back, shifting with subtle energy ripples as he moved.

He turned toward the grand archway leading to the Master Throne Deck.

The massive doors parted silently. Lin Feng stepped into the supreme command room of the Divine Sky Ark.

In the center of the vast chamber stood the Obsidian Master Throne. Carved from a single block of deep-space dark matter crystal, the throne sat upon a raised three-tiered dais, flanked by glowing energy conduits and holographic tactical displays.

Behind the throne was a panoramic glass viewport spanning one hundred feet across, offering an unobstructed, god-like view of the world below.

Lin Feng walked up the steps of the dais and sat upon the Obsidian Master Throne.

He leaned back comfortably against the dark crystal rest, crossing one leg over the other. He rested his right arm on the armrest, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the cool stone surface.

AI AIGIS materialized beside the throne, her silver hair shimmering under the ambient lighting. She waved her hand, expanding a specific section of the tactical holographic map.

The projection zoomed in rapidly, penetrating through the rain clouds and urban wreckage of Sector 7, locking directly onto the Su Family Villa.

“Master,” AIGIS reported, her synthetic voice dropping into a colder register. “Long-range optical sensors have located the four individuals responsible for your forced expulsion: Su Ran, Zhao Tian, Lin Dong, and Lin Xi.”

The holographic screen displayed live video feeds from high-altitude stealth drones.

Inside the Su family villa, chaos had erupted. The automated security gates had failed under the onslaught of acid rain and mutating infected. Dozens of T1 Walker zombies were battering against the reinforced front doors, their bloody hands smearing against the glass windows.

Su Ran was screaming orders into a dead satellite phone, her manicured hair disheveled and her silk dress stained with sweat. Zhao Tian was frantically trying to load a handgun with trembling fingers, dropping bullets onto the floor. Lin Dong and Lin Xi were huddled behind the sofa, sobbing in pathetic terror as the front doors began to crack.

AIGIS turned her glowing circuit eyes to Lin Feng.

“Sector 7 orbital strike drones are loaded with high-yield plasma warheads,” AIGIS said smoothly. “Target acquisition complete. Shall I dispatch orbital strike drones to vaporize them?”

Lin Feng looked at the holographic screen. He watched Su Ran’s pale face, Zhao Tian’s trembling hands, and the pathetic tears streaming down the faces of Lin Dong and Lin Xi.

There was no anger in his eyes. There was only the absolute, freezing cold of a sovereign looking at dust.

Beside the throne, an automated butler drone glided forward, carrying a crystal decanter and a glass of thirty-year-old vintage red wine. Lin Feng reached out, taking the crystal glass by its stem. He swirled the deep crimson liquid slowly, watching the rich wine coat the sides of the glass under the ambient sapphire light.

He raised the glass to his lips, taking a slow, measured sip.

“No,” Lin Feng said softly. His voice echoed through the vast throne room, cold enough to freeze blood. “Quick death is a mercy. Let them watch heaven from hell.”

AIGIS bowed her head silently, her interface updating the command parameters. “Protocol updated. Target surveillance maintained. The traitors will remain unassisted.”

Lin Feng turned his gaze away from the holographic screen, looking out through the massive panoramic viewport.

Below the Sky Ark, East Sea Metropolis burned in crimson flames, swallowed by acid rain and hordes of bloodthirsty monsters. Above it all, suspended in absolute luxury and invincibility, Lin Feng sat upon his throne, sipping his wine in total silence.

The apocalypse had just begun, and the world belonged to him.
