Chapter 7: The Royal Convocation
The awakening of Starlight Magic at the Healers’ Guild sent shockwaves through Aethelgard. Before House Vance could comprehend what had transpired, golden royal heralds rode through the city streets, sounding brass trumpets.
“By Imperial Order of His Majesty King Arthur and Her Majesty Queen Eleanor!” the herald announced. “A Royal Convocation is summoned tonight at the Sun Palace! The Lost Crown Princess of Eldoria, Princess Aurelia, missing for fifteen years, has been found! All noble houses shall attend!”
At Vance Manor, Lady Victoria nervously paced the marble salon. “The Lost Princess… found today? Julian, we must attend! If we can secure an alliance or trade monopoly with the Princess, it will wipe away the embarrassment of that foolish healer girl jilting you.”
Julian adjusted his velvet coat, confidence returning to his face. “Indeed, Mother. Baroness Chloe and I have reserved front-row standing at the palace. Once the Princess sees my noble rank and military position, she will surely look favorably upon House Vance.”
Baroness Chloe smiled venomously. “That commoner Aria was just trash. Real power resides in the Imperial Court. Tonight, we climb even higher.”
That evening, the Sun Palace was illuminated by thousands of floating crystal lanterns. Music swelled as high dukes, warlords, and wealthy merchants filled the grand throne room.
House Vance stood near the red carpet, puffing out their chests, eagerly awaiting the grand entrance of the Royal Family.
